Still holding on

When you think of “sentimental” pop songs hits in the 1990's, no other female group would come into mind more than Wilson Philips.

Wilson Phillips, an American vocal group consisting of Carnie Wilson, Wendy Wilson, and Chynna Phillips all born with musical genes (their parents were members of legendary groups The Beach Boys and The Mamas and the Papas), is now coming to Manila.

The group's popular hits include "Hold On", "Release Me", "You're in Love", "You Won't See me Cry", "Flesh and Blood", "Impulsive", and "Everything I Need". wilson_philips2.jpg

Their 1990 self-titled debut album sold over 10 million copies worldwide and scored three number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100, making the trio the best-selling female group at the time. In 1990, the group won the Billboard Music Award for Hot 100 Single of the Year for "Hold On", and in addition was nominated for four Grammy Awards and two American Music Awards.

In November 2011, they released their Dedicated; album, a tribute to their parents' bands The Mamas and the Papas, and the Beach Boys. Chynna (married to actor William Baldwin) appeared in Dancing With The Stars in mid-2011. The girls also did a cameo in the hit movie Bridesmaids, which put "Hold On" back in the Top 100 at the time.

What's your favorite Wilson Philips song? Share with us your fond memories of the female group's hit songs.

Wilson Philips: Live in Manila will be held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on October 12, 2012.
