The ladies and their lunch

At every "Ladies Who Lunch: The BusinessWorld Female Forum", a quarterly ladies’ gathering hosted by BusinessWorld and HerWord.com, something memorable always happens. Interesting insights are shared, new friends made, and specific issues concerning women given more focus.

At the female forum held at the Crown Plaza Galleria Manila in Ortigas business district, the food was definitely one of the unforgettable parts of the event. Held at the hotel’s Seven Corners restaurant, guests and participants partook of a delightful feast of delectable international cuisine prepared by executive chef Cyrille Soenen and his team.

For a long time now, Seven Corners has been offering unique interactive cooking stations (Western, Japanese, Tandoori, Salad, Pizza Station, Dessert and Asian Noodle corners), that bring out the finest international flavors using fresh ingredients and culinary flair. The thematic buffet stations and a la carte options more than satisfied the lucky attendees invited to the event. They have a good reason to: the buffet table was extensive without being overwhelming, and every dish was a good choice.

The ladies had their pick of crisp salads, hearty soups, fresh oven-baked pizza, tempting steaks, selections of pasta, a variety of dimsum, hot and savory curries, and good old Filipino fiesta food.

In the end, ladies being what they are, some of them gravitated to the dessert station where a chef skillfully prepared teppanyaki ice cream before the amazed guests. For the uninitiated, teppanyaki ice cream is made by blending different ice cream flavors over a freezing-cold stone. Guests can choose from several flavors and mix in almonds, pistachios, chocolate nuggets, gummy bears, chocolate cookie crumbs, and more sinfully delightful sweets. The incorrigible did not miss a chance to top their ice cream concoctions with chocolate or strawberry syrup.
